  New to The Jehovahs Witness Faith and need some help

  hello there i am new to the faith and have been studying for about a month.

  i am very excited and hungry for the truth and have not missed a meeting or study since the memorial.

  we do about 2 bible studies a week.

  "In joing the YMCA as a member a person accepts or endorses the general objectives and principles of the organization. He is not simply paying for something he receives, such as when buying things being sold to the public at a store. (Compare 1 Corinthians 8:10; 10:25). Nor is his membership merely an entry pass, as when a person buys a theatre ticket. Membership means that one has become an integral part of this organization founded with definite religious objectives, including the promotion of interfaith. Hence, for one of Jehovah's Witnesses to become a member of such a so-called "Christian" association would amount to apostasy."

  Embarrassed by Aggressive Apostates

  xjw protests & videos.

  .. i am disturbed by some of the more aggressive apostates posting videos on youtube,like "a jw memorial to remember" where a drunk man goes to a memorial and downs the whole glass of wine as a sort of protest.

  this video and others like it received positive comments from aawa members.

  Welcome Shemp. I think you are correct with what you said.

  It is human nature to focus on the negative. Videos like these might be a release for the ones involved. But videos like these might push ones who are questioning their faith back to the organization because it reinforces the WT’s notion that all apostates are evil, crazed and mentally diseased. I do believe it is the vast minority who make videos like this but the majority of people not “in the know” might think it is the majority of apostates who make these videos. I don’t think it helps those of us who are living our normal lives away from the Borg and want to set a good and normal example for our extended family to see we are normal away from the Borg, not crazy and mentally diseased. It doesn’t help our cause but I do get the sentiment behind the videos.

  Are we all actually "bad / evil / immoral" after leaving the faith?

  so recently there have been several posts with references to talks and articles that imply the following:.

  most of those who learn ttatt or fade from the "truth", are actually practicers of bad things, eg immorality, hence that is why 'we' now find fault with the org?.

  i find this so offensive that they imply such.

  I grew a goatee. - one or 2 I knew while in did this but we considered “spiritually weak”. I got a tattoo and reserved to get another one in June- some I knew while “in” had tattoos but were considered “spiritually weak” and lost their “privileges”. I smoke a cigar once or twice a month during the summer. I have heard stories of elders doing the same privately with other elders. So if any of this makes me a “sinner” than so be it. I haven’t changed much since leaving. I cuss the same amount too, just don’t feel guilty about it anymore. Oh… I smoked pot a few times since leaving. Don’t care for it. Just wanted to try it.

  I have been out of the cult for a little more than 2 years. Sober from alcohol for 3 and a half years. I sobered up in two ways, one from alcohol and the other from religion. Not sure which is better.

  i got lucky, if you believe in that sort of thing.

  Great to hear. It was such a relief when my wife left a year later with our 2 little ones. It’s funny, but we do seem to communicate better since leaving.

  Apostate crashes Memorial (update)

  the recent video of tony prime where he crashed the memorial made me think how the memorial has changed in recent years ,the layout of the talk ,the lack of jesus and his sufferings.

  That did absolutely nothing to make anyone think. He looked like a crazy mad man. That did not help the cause.

  Hey....where's my invitiation ???

  i was in my company truck again today, pulled over to the side of the road in a neighborhood, doing some measuring and looking for some survey markers.. a group of jw's were working their way down the street toward me.

  the 2 middle aged ladies were smartly dressed, one had brightly colored highly styled auburn hair and was wearing large noticeable jewlry.

  the brother was late 50's hispanic also smartly dressed in a black top coat and seemed like he might be elder material.

  No Memorial invitation for us :)

  this morning as my husband and i were backing out of our garage to head out to the farmers market a jw was walking up our walkway with his invitation.

  he didn't see us and we didn't rocongnize him but a brother and sister we knew well actually looked our way.

  we decided not to bother and went our way to enjoy a lovely morning picking out fresh fruit and vegetables knowing when we got home the invitation would be stuffed in our door.

  Well, I just got mine. I came downstairs from a shower and had a missed call and a voicemail from 20 minutes earlier. It was an elder I really liked. He invited me to tomorrow’s memorial services. Mrs. Dazed said to just ignore it. I told her, “If I continue to ignore them, they will continue to bug me.”

  So I decided to send a text. “I respectfully decline this invitation and any future invitations. Please do not contact me again. Thank you.”

  Short and sweet. Hope they get it this time…

  lol... just listened to it again... it was directed to just me. Not to the whole family. He didn't ask Mrs. Dazed?
